On April 24, 2009 a group of dentists joined JLMF to perform dental work for the poor in Ecuador. Two areas were visited; Pedro Moncayo, located about 90 minutes north of the capital city of Quito; and Guaranda - Judith Lombeida's hometown - located 5 hours by bus, south of Quito in the Central Highlands of the Andes Mountains. Over 300 patients were treated, providing approximately $36,000 of free dental care.

The range of care included fillings as well as the pulling of some teeth. The mission team included 4 dentists and support staff from the United States, the Ecuadorian Air Force which provided 2 dentists, security, and a bus, and 5 interpreters (two from the Peace Corps).
